Goldsky Resources

ESG

Commitment

Goldsky Resources prioritizes responsibility and sustainability in its Nordic gold and battery metal projects, emphasizing careful preparation, transparency, and community engagement. The company conducts extensive environmental monitoring and baseline studies for its projects in Finland and Sweden, focusing on mitigating impacts on water, species, habitats, air and local communities. Goldsky actively engages stakeholders and communities through dialogue and feedback mechanisms, adheres to strict health, safety, and environmental standards, and maintains strong governance overseen by its Board of Directors. The company is a member of the Finnish and Swedish mining associations and is committed to the “Towards Sustainable Mining” principles, with performance evaluated against these standards.

Environment

All our projects are built on a solid understanding of the surrounding environment. We carry out long-term environmental monitoring, baseline studies and impact assessments to guide responsible decision-making and design.

For example, in Rajapalot gold–cobalt project in the Finnish Lapland, groundwater and surface waters have been monitored since 2011, and nature studies have been conducted annually since 2010. Golden Eagle living in the area has been monitored through nesting cameras and satellite surveillance tracker since 2015. This work provides a strong baseline for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Permitting processes.

EIA work includes baseline studies and impact assessment for example of:

  • Surface and groundwater quality and flows
  • Air quality and noise
  • Species such as birds, otter, fishes, bear, otter and lynx
  • Habitat types, vegetation and plants
  • Conservation areas and values
  • Reindeer herding and local communities

Actions are planned and implemented in accordance with the mitigation hierarchy: Avoid, minimize, restore, and where necessary, compensate. This principle guides the operations and technical design in all our projects.

Stakeholders and communities

At Goldsky, we believe responsible development is only possible through genuine dialogue and respect for local communities and their knowledge. We work closely with the local communities, landowners, reindeer herders and other local stakeholders from very early days and before any activities take place. Company maintains offices in both countries in the areas of operations, and annual public events are organized locally in both countries.

Company encourages all forms of engagement with our stakeholders. Dozens of meetings and field visits are organized annually with different stakeholder groups. Feedback from local communities is taken into account in the planning of operations.

Goldsky applies strict Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements to ensure that all employees and contractors operate safely and responsibly. Everyone working under the Goldsky name receives appropriate safety & ESG training and commits to adhering to our high standards in all work.

Governance & Standards
